Resident Students
Resident overnight parking is reserved for third- and fourth-year undergraduate students who live on campus and have been chosen through our annual student parking lottery, which takes place each spring for the upcoming academic year.
Parking Lots Available
The following parking lots are available to resident students with annual and semester long parking permits obtained through the Parking Lottery (please see below).
Students assigned parking through the Parking Lottery will be given access to the following parking lots:
- Mal Brown/Cunningham Lot (Card Access Only)
- Annie Street/Schneider Lot (Card Access Only)
- Shanley Hall Lot (Card Access Only)
- Hunt-Cavanagh Lot
If you have a parking permit and are unable to access the card access lots listed above, please contact the Office of Transportation & Parking.
Student Lottery
Providence College conducts a parking lottery instead of a first-come, first-served system to ensure that all rising third- and fourth-year undergraduates have an equal and fair opportunity to secure parking. There are approximately 380 spaces/permits assigned to resident students each semester.
Permits are non-transferrable. If a student who was approved to have a permit no longer requires it, the permit will be offered to the next student in the lottery “line.”
Sign ups for the 2026-2027 Parking Lottery will open from Monday, March 2 at 9:00 am through Wednesday, March 25 at 9:00 pm.
Please note that submitting multiple forms will not increase selection changes. Only the most recent submission will be processed. Students may resubmit prior to the deadline if their request chances.
Cost:
- $400.00 per Academic Year
- $200.00 per Semester
Students who receive a parking permit through the Student Lottery may pay for their parking permit here. Cash and checks are not accepted as a form of payment for parking permits.
Vehicle Registration
Please note that once a vehicle is registered to a student in the ARMS Parking App, that vehicle is exclusively assigned to that student for the remainder of the academic year. It may not be registered, reassigned, or used by another student during the same academic year for any purpose, including the issuance of a temporary permit. Students are prohibited from loaning vehicles or permits to other student in order to obtain a temporary permit, including siblings. Siblings who intend to transfer a vehicle to another sibling for the upcoming academic year may email transportation@providence.edu.
Lottery Notification
Students who receive a parking permit through the first round of the Parking Lottery, as well as students who will be waitlisted, will receive notification by email by April 9, 2026.
Waitlist
Students who do not receive a parking permit through the Parking Lottery will be placed on a waitlist for the permit type requested through the Parking Lottery.
Parking Permit Sticker Placement
Stickers must be placed on the lower left side of the driver’s side windshield. If your sticker is damaged or needs to be replaced for a new vehicle, please bring the damaged/removed sticker to the Office of Transportation & Parking to obtain a new sticker.
It is the parker’s responsibility to remove any expired permits from their vehicle.
