Resident Students
Resident overnight parking during the academic year is reserved for third- and fourth-year undergraduate students who live on campus and have been chosen through our annual student parking lottery. Currently, the parking lottery takes place each spring for the upcoming academic year.
Parking Lots Available
The following parking lots are available to resident students during the academic year with annual and semester long parking permits (please see below).
Students assigned parking through the Parking Lottery will be given access to the following parking lots:
- Mal Brown/Cunningham Lot (Card Access Only)
- Annie Street Lot (Card Access Only)
- Shanley Hall Lot (Card Access Only)
- Hunt-Cavanagh Lot
If you have a parking permit and are unable to access the card access lots listed above, please contact the Office of Transportation.
Student Lottery
Providence College conducts a parking lottery instead of a first-come, first-served system to ensure that all rising third- and fourth-year undergraduates have an equal and fair opportunity to secure parking. There are approximately 380 spaces/permits assigned to resident students each semester.
Permits are non-transferrable. If a student who was approved to have a permit no longer requires it, the permit will be offered to the next student in the lottery “line.”
The 2026-2027 Parking Lottery is now closed. All resident permits have been assigned. Students on the waitlist will be notified if a permit becomes available.
Students who request a full academic year parking permit but are initially awarded only a semester permit through the Parking Lottery will automatically remain on the waitlist for the additional semester.
Students may only request a parking permit for a vehicle that is registered in their name or in the name of an immediate family member. In addition, each vehicle may only be linked to one student account and cannot be shared between multiple students for permit purposes. Students who request a Temporary Parking Permit for another student’s vehicle will lose the privilege of receiving a parking permit in the future.
Cost:
- $400.00 per Academic Year
- $200.00 per Semester
Students who receive a parking permit through the Student Lottery may pay for their parking permit here. Cash and checks are not accepted as a form of payment for parking permits.
Vehicle Registration
Please note that once a vehicle is registered to a student in the ARMS Parking App, that vehicle is exclusively assigned to that student for the remainder of the academic year. It may not be registered, reassigned, or used by another student during the same academic year for any purpose, including the issuance of a temporary permit. Students are prohibited from loaning vehicles or permits to other student in order to obtain a temporary permit, including siblings. Siblings who intend to transfer a vehicle to another sibling for the upcoming academic year may email transportation@providence.edu.
Waitlist
Students who do not receive a parking permit through the Parking Lottery will be placed on a waitlist for the permit type requested through the Parking Lottery.
Parking Permit Sticker Placement
It is the parker’s responsibility to remove any expired permits from their vehicle. Stickers must be placed on the lower left side of the driver’s side windshield. If your sticker is damaged or needs to be replaced for a new vehicle, please bring the damaged/removed sticker to the Office of Transportation to obtain a new sticker.
